Tech Stack Field Notes
Tech is loud right now. Tech Stack: Field Notes documents the tools that survive real work — the ones that earn their seat after being dropped into messy operations, real deadlines, and human behavior.
Intro Issue — Why This Series Exists
Tech is loud right now.
Every week there’s a new tool.
Every platform promises to “change everything.”
Every timeline is full of perfect workflows that definitely don’t exist in real life.
This series is not that.
Tech Stack: Field Notes exists to document the tools that survive real work — the ones that earn their seat after being dropped into messy operations, real deadlines, and human behavior.
Not demos.
Not theory.
Not hype.
Rules of Engagement
A tool makes it into this series only if it meets at least one of these criteria:
It removes friction I actively resent
It saves real, measurable time
It improves output without increasing cognitive load
It works in production, not just in sales decks
AI tools will show up here.
So will non-AI tools.
If it’s here, it earned it.
What This Is (and Isn’t)
This is:
Field-tested tech
Practical workflows
Honest tradeoffs
Tools used by someone actually shipping work
This is not:
A “top 50 tools” list
A beginner’s guide
A vendor pitch disguised as content
If something breaks, disappoints, or gets replaced — that story gets told too.
How This Series Will Work
Each issue will follow the same structure:
The Problem – what wasn’t working
The Tool – what I deployed
The Test – how it held up under pressure
The Verdict – did it earn its seat?
Some tools will be foundational.
Some will be surprisingly small.
All will be judged the same way.
Who This Is For
This series is for people who:
Lead teams
Build systems
Run operations
Care about outcomes more than aesthetics
Don’t have time to babysit tools
If that’s you, welcome.
First up
Post-001: Headshots without the headache — how a tech tool replaced a process I hated and never looked back.
Because the best tech doesn’t make noise.
It just works.
