Imagine telling your tech team,
“I just need a quick tool that generates borrower updates I can drop right into the CRM.”
They nod, promise to “add it to the backlog”… and six weeks later, you’re still waiting.
Now imagine typing that same request—in plain English—into a tool like Lovable, Replit, or Figma Make… and having a working version in minutes.
That’s Vibe Coding.
What Is Vibe Coding?
Vibe coding is building apps and automations with plain speak. Instead of writing 100 lines of code, you describe what you want in natural language and let the tool scaffold the logic, the UI, and even the integrations.
The concept first appeared in a viral tweet from Andrej Karpathy (ex-Tesla AI Director, OpenAI co-founder):
“There’s a new kind of coding I call ‘vibe coding,’ where you fully give in to the vibes, embrace exponentials, and forget that the code even exists.”
For loan officers, that means no more waiting for IT or hiring a dev shop for lightweight tools. You can spin up practical micro-apps that save hours and plug right into your CRM workflow.
And yes—this same approach can create gorgeous, full websites with mortgage calculators in minutes.
What Can Loan Officers Build with Vibe Coding?
Here are a few examples you could have live tomorrow:
🔹 Borrower Status Note Generator
Pick a loan stage → instantly generate a short, compliant note you can paste into the CRM activity log or borrower portal.
🔹 Pre-Approval Doc Checklist Builder
Input a borrower profile → auto-generate a tailored checklist.
🔹 Rate-Drop Watcher
Upload a list of borrowers → get notified when a market rate drops enough to trigger outreach.
🔹 Referral Partner Content Generator
Auto-draft weekly co-branded updates for your realtor or financial advisor partners.
🔹 Full Loan Officer Website with Calculators
Instead of wrangling WordPress or Squarespace, spin up a clean landing page—complete with purchase, refi, and equity calculators—in minutes.
Mini Vibe Prompts in Action
Here’s how vibe coding looks across tools:
Lovable (web app scaffold)
“Create a minimal Next.js app called Borrower Status Note Generator with a single page form (Borrower Name, Loan Stage dropdown). When I submit, generate a short borrower update in plain text that I can copy into my CRM. Include name, stage, timestamp. Add a ‘Copy to Clipboard’ button. Clean, responsive UI.”
Replit (micro-service/API)
“Build a Python FastAPI service with endpoint /preapproval_checklist. Inputs: loan_type, fico, self_employed. Return JSON with a tailored checklist and a plain_text version under 150 words.”
Figma + Make (UI + workflow)
“Design a one-screen dashboard mockup ‘Rate-Drop Watcher’ with a table of borrowers and a ‘Run Check’ button. In Make, create a scenario that reads from a Google Sheet, compares current vs market rates, and generates a short borrower note I can paste into CRM or email.”
The Key to Good Prompts
Vibe coding still requires iteration. Most tools charge credits per request, so structure your first prompt with as much clarity as possible. I use my good friend chatGPT to help me.
Here’s one I used just this morning (yes, meta moment):
“Acting as a full stack engineer and UX Designer create a comprehensive prompt to be used with Lovable.dev to create a modern and sleek website for a mortgage Loan Officer named Heather Jacobs who works for Family Business Mortgage. Include the following pages: Home, About, Get in Touch, and Calculators. Include calculators for Purchase, Refinancing, and Home Equity. In the footer leave room for disclaimers and NMLS information.”
I fed GPT's unedited prompt into Lovable and got this (no provided images, no bio provided, zero polish):
👉 home-loan-heather.lovable.app
Now imagine what it looks like once you layer in your own story, branding, and touch.

Why This Matters
Loan officers have always been resourceful. Now you can be resourceful with code itself.
Vibe coding gives you:
Speed → Build in hours, not months.
Control → Solve workflow bottlenecks without waiting on backlog.
Innovation → Test ideas fast before investing big.
The future isn’t just about using AI—it’s about building with it.
What’s Next
This article is part of my AI for the Modern Loan Officer series.
Next up: real-world vibe coding success stories. I’ll share apps that others have already built—and how you can adapt them for your own workflow.
Your Turn
If you could vibe code one micro-app tomorrow, what would it be? Comment below, and I’ll write a plain-speak prompt you can use to get started.
